Abstract:A general review is given here to the studies on eastern Asian winter monsoon and its associated Southern Hemisphere Summer monsoon by Chinese meteorologist in last several years.In the studies,numerious investigations have been made in various areas, such as the equatorward propagation of the eastern -Asian cold surges, cold surge-caused interactions between low-and mid-latitude circulations , characteristics of the low-frequency oscillation of winter monsoon , and the ralationship between the monsoon and El Nino events, etc. The efforts have almost touched the- whole frontier of monsoon studies on earth.The results show that the studies in China have obtained the same or almost the same with those of the world. Yet, the review indicates that there are some topics and fields remain to be further examined.
