Abstract:To review the history of meteorological observation development, close
relationship between meteorological observation and weather forecasting has bee
n analyzed, and the result shows that meteorological observation development
has promoted weather forecasting development. Furthermore current development of me
teorological observation is described, the prospect of new meteorological observ
ation technology application and the future trend of meteorological instrumental
development are analyzed and depicted. Finally some international integrated me
teorological observation plans such as GCOS, GEOSS and WIGOS are introduced.
